Why Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is an extremely popular, theraputic and beneficial form of conditioning exercise. It provides a full body workout that builds both strength and mobility. It targets muscle endurance through slow controlled repetitions that help improve posture, core strength, balance and flexibility.

The Pilates Reformer uses springs and pullies to create resistance, allowing tailored exercises to target improved fitness levels. Regular sessions can contribute towards injury prevention, stress relief and promote a feeling of improved mental well being.

About Su

My Pilates Journey

I started my personal Pilates journey nearly 25 years ago after two large pregnancies left me with a mal-aligned pelvis, chronic lower back pain, frequent neck spasms and frustrating 'runners knee' pain. My two caesarean births also contributed to weakening my core strength and affected my overall postural alignment. After six initial private Pilates sessions I was hooked! After a year of weekly sessions my chronic back pain was gone and I was inspired to become a Pilates teacher myself.

After qualifying with Body Control Pilates Association, I initially focused my further training on gaining certification in Post / Ante Natal Pilates, Intermediate Pilates and multiple Pilates with Small Equipment courses.

In 2012 I completed my specialist BCPA Level 4 Back4Good Low Back Pain Practitioner qualification. At this time I was also very proud to become a Supervising Training Teacher for Body Control Pilates, helping train and mentor BCP student teachers during their initial supervised teacher training.

With a special interest in running I went on to obtain certifications in Pilates for Sports Performance and Pilates for Runners. More recently I have trained in Pilates for Bone Health. This has been of particular interest to me as I navigate the joys of menopause!

Having a better understanding of the therapeutic benefits that Pilates for Bone Health can offer both peri-menopausal and menopausal women, it was a natural progression to go on to complete my Reformer Pilates Qualifications.

I enjoy training all ages and abilities of both Men and Women and love introducing Reformer Pilates to beginners, as well as working with more experienced fitness enthusiasts!

As a member of the BCPA I adhere to continual career development and take training courses annually to maintain my professional membership.
